AHN Education & Training Centre

Leading Provider of Intergenerational Training Courses and Qualifications

AHN Intergenerational Education and Training (AHNEd) is the specialist education, training and qualifications arm of Apples and Honey Nightingale CIC. We exist to strengthen intergenerational practice by ensuring it is intentional, ethical and professionally developed.

Rooted in over a decade of lived practice within the UK’s pioneering intergenerational nursery and care home partnership, AHNEd bridges the gap between theory and practice. Our work draws on research, evaluation and real-world delivery to support organisations and individuals working across early years, care, education, housing and community settings.

We believe that meaningful intergenerational work does not happen by accident. It requires skilled practitioners, reflective leadership and organisational commitment. AHNEd supports this journey by offering structured learning, accredited qualifications and strategic embedding support.

Our training is values-led, evidence-informed and grounded in relationships. We work with practitioners at every stage of their intergenerational journey – from those just beginning to explore the field, to organisations seeking to embed intergenerational approaches across their culture and practice.

Our Three Pathways

AHNEd’s offer is organised into three connected pathways, allowing individuals and organisations to engage at the level that best meets their needs.

Learn

Build understanding, confidence and shared language around intergenerational practice.

This pathway includes introductory training, short courses, workshops and talks designed to raise awareness and deepen understanding of intergenerational approaches. Ideal for practitioners, teams, leaders and organisations who want to explore what good intergenerational practice looks like and why it matters.

Qualify

Develop professional competence through accredited intergenerational qualifications.

The QUALIFY pathway offers regulated and accredited qualifications that support practitioners to design, deliver and evaluate high-quality intergenerational programmes. These qualifications are grounded in practice and reflective learning, and are suitable for those working across early years, care, education and community contexts.

Embed

EMBED is for organisations that want intergenerational practice to be more than a project. Through consultancy, coaching and strategic support, we help organisations align intergenerational work with their values, workforce development, policies and long-term vision.
