Global Intergenerational Week 2024

#GIW24

Global Intergenerational Week, is an annual campaign that connects everyone around the world who is passionate about Intergenerational.

Apples and Honey Nightingale (AHN) Apples and Honey Nightingale is both a co-located daycare and pre-school in the grounds of Nightingale House Care Home Nightingale House | Nightingale Hammerson, and a registered education and training centre

Based in South London, our 80 pre-school babies and children enjoy daily programmes with the care home residents who benefit equally from the reciprocal, purposeful and stimulating activities. Children of the Care Home staff attend the nursery, thereby creating another bridge for maintaining continuity of care and close bonds.

Through our training programme, developed in order to support the importance of high quality Intergenerational (IG) projects that are grounded in a secure understanding of IG principles and practices, we provide CPD accredited courses in IG practice and a unique suite of NCFE accredited level 3 IG qualifications.

We are delighted to be England country leads with the Beth Johnson Foundation with whom we have also relaunched the Centre for Intergenerational Practice, Research and Development. Effective and impactful IG projects can only succeed if we work together in respectful partnerships. The theme for Global Intergenerational Week this year is ‘Intergenerational Practice is ESSENTIAL.’

Together we can make it happen!

As an emerging field, the principles and practice which underlie intergenerational work are constantly evolving and changing, as they take into account new research and a growth in grassroots international programmes and practice. It can be hard to know quite where to start in terms of building knowledge, to ensure that the intergenerational sessions you may be planning are of good quality, and meet the core principles of intergenerational work and practice. This webinar will explore the various types of training that is available from leading intergenerational organisations AHN Education & TrainingGenerations Working Together and Linking Generations NI, and will provide an opportunity to hear from people who have taken part. If you have questions with regard to your own continuous professional development in the field of intergenerational work, come and join us.
